Artist Biography Statement
I am currently adjunct faculty member at Brigham Young University–Idaho, where I teach social dance and ballroom techniques, and I also coach at Extreme Ballroom, a nationally recognized studio in Idaho Falls, Idaho. I earned my Master of Fine Arts in Dance from Arizona State University in May 2025, specializing in curriculum design and dance research, and obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Brigham Young University in 2023.
With over 20 years of practical experience in dance, my work bridges technical training, somatic awareness, and critical inquiry. My research and teaching emphasize the integration of somatic imagery into ballroom dance pedagogy, drawing on dance conditioning, injury prevention, and kinesiology to enhance movement efficiency and artistry. My creative and scholarly projects explore the intersections of dance, philosophy, and pedagogy, including investigations into pure art theory and the use of the critical response process in collaborative creation.
Dedicated to fostering lifelong learning, I am committed to developing dancers who think critically, move with efficiency, and engage in dance as both an art form and a scholarly pursuit.
