As an artist, educator, and collaborator with over 20 years of experience in ballroom dancing I enjoy exploring unique approaches to teaching dance in higher education. My work includes guiding dancers in fostering creativity, critical thinking, and embodied learning in professional and academic settings.
Artist Biography Statement
Logan Barnes is currently a MFA in Dance candidate at Arizona State University, expected to graduate in May of 2025. With over 20 years of experience in dance, Barnes holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Brigham Young University specializing in ballroom dance, somatic practices, and dance research. His work bridges dance conditioning, injury prevention, and kinesiology, with a particular focus on integrating somatic imagery into ballroom dance pedagogy. As an educator, Barnes teaches at the university level, specializing in social dance styles. His creative and scholarly research explores the intersections of dance, philosophy, and movement efficiency, with recent projects examining ballroom dance through the lens of pure art theory and the application of the critical response process in artistic collaboration. Committed to fostering lifelong learning and artistic inquiry, Barnes aspires to contribute to dance education by merging technical training with critical thinking and somatic awareness.
